Drone Battery Energy Density Calculator

Energy-density calculator

Gravimetric energy density (Wh/kg) = battery energy (Wh) ÷ battery mass (kg).
Volumetric energy density (Wh/L) = battery energy (Wh) ÷ battery volume (L).

Example: 44.4 V × 13 Ah = 577 Wh. A 3.6 kg pack therefore provides about 160 Wh/kg.

Required battery energy (Wh) = average mission power (W) × flight time (hours) ÷ usable-energy factor. Preserve a landing reserve and validate voltage sag under the real payload, ambient temperature and discharge profile.

Inputs to record: nominal voltage, capacity, pack mass, external volume, average mission power, peak mission power, landing reserve and ambient temperature.

Use this calculation as a screening tool before flight validation. Contact Voltsky UAV Power for an application-specific battery comparison.
